I will be going to London In february, I just want to know how hard it would be to find a job at a pub or hotel that also provides for accomodation?

Hi there,
Finding work in the UK is easy, as long as your willing to go out there and get it. Pub and hotel work have high staff turnovers as most staff are temping and the pay isn't too great.
Go door knocking (it worked for me years ago), pick up a TNT mag (at train/tube stations) and look in the job sections or agency. Just make sure you have your paperwork (visa, national insurance no, bank details) as work on the black is getting harder to find.
Good luck, London is a great place to visit and don't forget to take your wet weather gear and something very warn as it is supposed to be the coldest winter for 40 years and Feb is one of the coldest.

The jobs are all there - its just up to you to find them, really. Backpacker bulletin boards are a great place start. And www.thegumtree.com and thisislondon.com have been life savers. Its just a matter of whether you wanna be choosy and wait out for better paying office jobs or just work harder for a lot less pay at fulltime bar and catering jobs *shrug*
Just so you feel better - the longest I have been without a job while in London is 2 weeks, so don't fret Just make sure you put some pennies away for the odd couple of dry weeks like that.

if you go to studentflights.com.au and follow the links through work overseas there is a pubs uk service they provide. its about 600 bucks but they get you a garenteed job before you go over there (it has accomodation at the pub), plus they set up your bank, sim card etc

Guys, this thread was started back in November 2005, and a spammer (whose post above will be deleted by the Europe moderator, soon) brought it back to life to advertise their services. Don't bother replying, I'm sure the original poster do not need the information anymore.

Oops. Me and my lack of looking at the facts. Will do so in future. Thanks for pointing it out.
