im goin travellin to se asia and am havin difficulty in decidin what to pack.
i knw u can buy a lot of toletries etc in koh san road and bangkok as well as other stuff.
im wonderin whether its a good idea to buy absolutley nuthin and buy a rucksack and all the stuff for travellin round SE asia in Bangkok.
Its orginal!!!!!I must say.
You are right in a few ways but the thing to do is play it both ways.
The last thing you want to have to do when you hit Khao San Rd is start shopping.
All I carry is a shoulder bag with end zipped pockets,1 for my LP SE Asia book or wherever and one for my washing/shaving kit.
In my bag I have 2pair of cords,2 Tee shirts,2underpants,swiming trunks and towel and flipflops,no socks as when I get off the plane I dont wear them again.
On me getting off the plane are my cargo pants and tee shirt with pocket and away I go.
On my travels you are quite right,in Asia its nearly cheaper to throw away and buy new than to dobby.
Maybe play it both ways until you find which way suits you and thats the main thing.
When I get off the plane I jump the 0900 bus at the Airport to Pattaya as it has Jomtien beach and great nighlife and thats all I need to relax for a week before deciding where to go!!!!!!!
I eventually on my rounds do make it to Khao San Rd as it has great atmosphere and vibes for all travellers.
Have a great SE Asia travels and enjoy your trip.
