Will has indicated that this thread is about United Kingdom

hey...I'm new to this, but it seems that finding cheap national coach services online is proving harder than expected. in particular, I'm trying to get from northern England to Stansted airport, preferebly on a students budget.

If any more experienced travellers have any advice, i'd be grateful for your help...and if possible any recommendations as to which companies could cater for me and their contact details.

thanks, Will (budding traveller)....

Well it depends where you're going from, "Northern England" isn't much help! ;)

Have you tried www.nationalexpress.com? They're not all that cheap but they're regular and reliable, and they go to Stanstead...

You can also try the cheapo megabus.com, with fares from a pound.

Alternatively, you should consider flying, as there are plenty of extremely cheap routes from the north to London, and if you fly to stanstead then that will save a lot of hassle. Try ryanair.com for potentially cheap flights to stanstead.

Good luck!

Like the other respondent, all I can suggest is the National Express.

Hi

There is a website which details destinations by coach from Stansted, Airport, so I assume you can do the jounrey in reverse! Anyhow the destinations are detailed below and the website is www.carlberry.co.uk . . .I have not used the wbesite before, so cannot vouch for accuracy but it does look quite good.

Thjere are some northern cities listed, but unsure what you meant by northern england, so hope it is helpful

The coach options have been covered above but although its more expensive by rail on the day if you book two weeks, a month or even more in advance the trains can actually work out cheaper. Only problem being youre tied to specific trains rather than whichever one comes along when you fancy getting to the station. Definitely worth looking at though if youre that organised- virgin rail do some good deals, especially if you have a young persons railcard.

if you are a student you can get a young persons national express card for about 10pounds i think and that gives you a discount-you can often make it back through one long trip

If not might be worth trying train if you book in advance online you can get big discounts and again you can get a student card which gives you one third off
