I plan to visit the perhentian islands in Malaysia during January. Between the 1st and the third to be precise. Now, I KNOW that there's a monsoon season November onward. however, on checking a weather site for past years' weather records in January, I see that it doesn't rain or at least not rain hard around that time.
However, I am not sure ferry services run or if accomodations are open. Is there anyone who can give me more information regarding this topic? I'd really like to travel there provided its possible.
I would rather not count on previous years weather reports because the weather has been unpredictable these years. If you are thinking of scuba diving or snorkelling we have a marine park also on the west coast of Malaysia where the weather would be calm during this time. However, you may not see what you may want to see there here.

I am pretty sure there will be no ferries at that time and the accommodation will all be closed. Normally things don't start opening again until mid Feb.
The monsoon started early this year and has been quite bad. As The Dukun says, I wouldn't put too my trust in past weather reports as the monsoon behaves differently every year.
Thank you very much for your inputs. I guess Perhentian is out of the question. That's such a pity since I get so close to it. Also, I am taking the "Jungle Line" train from KL to Kota Bahru. Do monsoons hamper this journey at all?
I have sent u a PM.......as for train journey...go ahead...
have fun !
