8 days total is pushing it, but you should be able to do it. If I were you I'd take a bus from La Paz to Puno (Lake Titicaca), and then again from Puno to Cusco. Booking on short notice shouldn't be a problem at all; can probably be done with your hotel/hostel. From Cusco to Lima, you should plan on flying. From what I hear, that bus ride is some 20-odd hours on some pretty nauseating roads. The flight is only about 2 hrs and shouldn't be overly expensive.

Hope that helps.

8 days would be pushing it.
My wife and I did La Paz to Lima, and it took us almost 3 weeks.
Had a huge hassle getting out of La Paz with the blockades but made it to Copacabana on Lake Titicaca.
Three nights there with a day's trek on Isla del Sol (magic).
Bus to Puno and 2 nights there so we could tour the reed islands.
Bus to Cuzco (2 nights) then a weekend at Machu Picchu then one more night in Cuzco.
Flight to Arequipa (2 nights)then 3 day trek of Colca Canyon then one more night in Arequipa then flew to Lima.
There's a lot to see and do between La Paz and Lima!!!

I have a similar question.
I am trying to go from Lima to La Paz, but we probably don't plan on stopping. I wanted to know roughly how long this would take and roughly how much it would cost.Oh, and we wanted to take a bus.
In event that we did want to stop, we would want to stop in Cusco and I was wondering how much out of the way this would be for our trip on our way to La Paz.

I travelled from Lima to La Paz in 1 week. I flew from Lima to Cuzco, spent 3 days there (including 2 days to visit Machu Picchu), took the train from Cusco to Puno (a little pricier than the bus but definitely worth it, the view along the way is stunning), spent the night in Puno before heading to Copacabana and Isla del Sol the next day, spent a chilly but magical night there (amazing sunset/sunrise) then off to La Paz where I experienced La Paz day, a truly special moment. I might have been pushing it as I wanted to see as much as possible in 2 weeks, but Lima-La Paz is definitely doable in 8 days, just depends on how much you want to see. I was very pleased with my trip.
I spent the next week in Potosi, Sucre, and Arequipa (after taking the bus from La Paz to Arica, another amazing day long trip).

I would like to visit La Paz while I'm in Puno. Can someone give me an estimation of bus or boat costs for making that trip from Puno to La Paz. Thanks .

Hi everyone

the common way to go is stopping some time to enjoy the places, if you need to go save time in Copacabana, Puno and Arequipa. You can not mis Cuzco.

Bus La Paz to Copacabana Several cias 4 hours
Bus Copacabana to Puno Several cias 5 hours
BUS Puno to Cuzco Several cias 8 hours
Bus Cusco to Arequipa Several cias 10 hour
Bus Arequipa to Lima Several cias 14 hours

You are riding a bike, aren't you? That's probably as cheap as it gets! Otherwise, busses. Or hitchhiking, but I would defenitely NOT recommend that in SA.
