Well Q, according to the physical laws of the universe anything is possible. From what I can tell, cikusang meant that do you prefer to watch and observe people. cikusang isn't asking if your exert force on the the universe...

Thanks Brenden.

and so you know Samasara is more than a user of these boards, it is the hindu and buddhist idea that life and death is a cycle bound to this material world. I was just pointing it out as an example of re-incarnation.

In Buddhism, that's 'share Karma'. Understand what is Karma first and it helps us to understand things better.

Look, I don't know what your problem has been the last few weeks. I enjoy a good, intelligent discussion any time, but a discussion is based on evidence and logic. I've clearly presented how heisenberg has been extrapolated to the study of human nature. If you choose to ignore that, as well as the questions and evidence that I've presented in other posts, then I suggestion you stop commenting on my posts and wasting bandwidth.

Tough issues laid out:
---------------------------------------

1) Everything in the Universe is already there or is being made?

Everything is being made.

2) There is a "higher power" (God(s), etc)? Yes/No

No.

3) "Life" continues after death? Yes/No

Yes.

4) There is a cycle of re-incarnation (Samsara, etc.)? Yes/No

Yes.

5) Humans need systems of control? Yes/No

Yes.

6) Capital Punishment is "just"? Yes/No

Pole-sitter - will not pick yes or no to avoid being misconstrued at a later time.

7) Pro-Life or Pro-Choice?

Pro-Choice.

8) Free-Market or Controlled-Market?

Free market.

9) Everyone for themselves or everyone for others?

Everyone for others.

10) Are we alone in the Universe? Yes/No

No.

Here's my two cents' worth. I can't promise no waffly answers - only honest ones.

1) Everything in the Universe is already there or is being made?
Yes. Everything comes from something.

2) There is a "higher power" (God(s), etc)? Yes/No
Yes, but I have no idea what that power could be. I go with the "as human beings, we don't have the capactiy to know" bit.

3) "Life" continues after death? Yes/No
Yes, but ditto the answer to #2.

4) There is a cycle of re-incarnation (Samsara, etc.)? Yes/No
Dunno. I like the idea of it, but I'm a fence sitter on that one.

5) Humans need systems of control? Yes/No
Yes, absolutely. Not repression, but self-control. Personal growth is gained through the ability to discipline onesself - whether it's to study, to work, to clean the bathroom when it's filthy, to volunteer one's time, and so on. By learning to hone and control our talents, we become our full selves. Not much is gained through mayhem and being out of control - except perhaps anarchy and total self indulgence.

6) Capital Punishment is "just"? Yes/No
No. I'm absolutely against capitol punishment. Just keep me off the jury if it happens to someone I know.

7) Pro-Life or Pro-Choice?
I'd have to say pro-choice, but using abortion as a form of birth control is a big no-no in my books.

8) Free-Market or Controlled-Market?
Dunno. Controlled market? Too many workers in the South are exploited through the free market. How about a fair market - is that an option?

9) Everyone for themselves or everyone for others?
I don't think this is an either-or answer. You must be good and kind and generous to yourself in order to do the same for others.

10) Are we alone in the Universe? Yes/No
A definite no. Although I can't begin to fathom what else is out there. Beings with senses 6 through 10? How will we ever know they're there? But there most probably there.

1) Everything in the Universe is already there or is being made?
Has existed since 14 Billion years ago(BANG!), but has been changing and "settling" for 14 billion years, and counting.....

2) There is a "higher power" (God(s), etc)?
Naw.

3) "Life" continues after death?
Heh, no.

4) There is a cycle of re-incarnation (Samsara, etc.)?
Energy is neither created nor destroyed. But me, Travis Kolb, will never live again after I die.

5) Humans need systems of control?
As of right now, yes. Once we mature as a species, no.

6) Capital Punishment is "just"?
God, I love to cast judgement from my beautiful pole.

7) Pro-Life or Pro-Choice?
Pro women's right to do whatever the hell she wants with HER body.

8) Free-Market or Controlled-Market?
If the Govt. wasn't just as corupt as the corporations, I would say controlled, but all govts. are corrupt, so may as well be a free market.

9) Everyone for themselves or everyone for others?
Obviously, we all say everyone for others. But who actually practices that? I wish I could, but I work 70 hours a week for me, not Bob that lives under the overpass. Sorry Bob, I hope my measly 2 bucks I give you on the way to work is enough.

10) Are we alone in the Universe?
Yeah right. How could we think that our planet is the only planet with living creatures? That would just be ignorant. There are millions of other planets with life, but due to physics, we will never get there.

ha ha the human!!!
a friend in need is a friend you don't want
problems are contagious
a perfect world would be 50-50 good against bad this would give you a comparison and help you fail miserably
well what's new????

1) Everything in the Universe is already there or is being made?

Everything is being made.

2) There is a "higher power" (God(s), etc)? Yes/No

No.

3) "Life" continues after death? Yes/No

I would suppose so. Anyone care to test that?

4) There is a cycle of re-incarnation (Samsara, etc.)? Yes/No

I guess.

5) Humans need systems of control? Yes/No

Yes. Even Utopia has rules. It is not a synonym for chaos.

6) Capital Punishment is "just"? Yes/No

Depends on your definition of "just".

7) Pro-Life or Pro-Choice?

Pro-Choice.

8) Free-Market or Controlled-Market?

Free market.

9) Everyone for themselves or everyone for others?

Sometimes one or the other, sometimes a bit of both.

10) Are we alone in the Universe? Yes/No

Unfortunately no. And I don't mean the aliens.

Oh, I apologise for the bandwidth . I am not trying to think of arguments for all of your posts, we just see things quite differently. I do agree that discussion should be based on logic and evidence but that can only go so far, because in my view all evidence is moot.

I know what you meant about your reference to Heisenberg, but I was just trying to point out what cikusang meant by you not exacting force on the universe. I don't know if that makes sense... I need breakfast.

I have really liked reading everyone's answers... still a few waffly ones out there.

I am trying to determine if the one question trickles down into all of the others.. but so far it doesn't seem to.

Whatever.

The most unfortunate part is that Lee didn't get a chance to formulate a response and ask for his own clarification without the influence of your words. Did he consider a person's influence on things like commerce, politics, the weather, global pollution, etc. I quoted Heisenberg because it is the most general, and like I said has been extrapolated to a great many different fields. Too late now.
