First of all, I totally agree that Starbucks coffee is totally over-rated. To me, it is not the real thing.

I mainly miss my bed and dog when I'm away.

I'm a sop, too I miss my friends and family. When I'm away I write emails as often as I can to keep in touch and send postcoards and letters and packages, too. I don't tend to miss food at all. I love trying new kinds of food and eating what people eat wherever I travel. Often I fall in love with their food, especially once my body gets used to it. It is kind of nice to have a cup of tea sometimes, even though I am not British. It's like a photo album in a mug Oh, one thing about travelling abroad for longer periods of time outside of North America- pants. They never seem to fit right unless I buy them here.

Wow . . when I started this thread, I did not expect so many replies about marmite!!

I notice though cups of tea, beds, family and food are all recurring themes . . .I only have 3 weeks to go now before I go off on my great adventure and already I know I am going to miss my cat, bed and partner . . .not necessarily in that order!!

However I also cannot wait to explore (what to me at least) is the unknown . . .

Keep posting your "I miss most" though, and who knows perhaps one day they might be available on your travels!!

Am not a marmite person at all. You either love it or hate it don´t you! Mim, i´m in chile right now and haven´t found any of the minging stuff yet so i would bring some out with you! But i´m so grateful to my big sister for giving me a pack of Tetleys teabags! I couldn´t do without them, especially after an exhausting day teaching. This weekend is easter weekend so what i am REALLY missing right now is cadbury´s chocolate easter eggs:( so am gonna have to make do with scoffing a bar of hersheys instead. At first I was really missing eastenders because the big soap opera out here right now called "hippie" is appallingly melodramatic and silly. Obviously i miss my family and friends loads but i´m having so much fun and feel so lucky to be living in such a beautiful place that i feel a bit ungrateful and selfish when i start missing home! I could really get used to living out here permanently.

Privacys a good one, especially when your'e travelling with friends. I nearly went mad last time I went away until I realised it's cool to ask for your own space.
Me and two girlfriends travelled India on a shoestring last year and there were times when we'd all even share one bed. (fun in a sleepover way but not when your feeling tetchy and endup arguing over who sleeps in the middle-never me,I wriggle!)

Decided not to take marmite, really am not the kind of person who misses comforts, you can always find new and fun alternaties right!?

Hiya, was just talking to a friend of mine who used to live in Dublin, he said that when he went back to Utrecht the thing he missed the most was a good fry, especially pudding........ when he was here he had 5 in one day to make up for what he was missing.................

for me what i'd miss the most is privacy, people who know / understand your moods, my dogs......... but as its adventure i'm so busy discovering something new to really miss things until the end of the trip.....................
