We want to ski midweek in either Italy, Austria, Slovenia or Switzerland. I will have a 9 year old beginner with me. Anyone have a favorite that is low key and not too expensive?

Hard to reply: many wonderful places in the Alps.

My favourite spot in Italy is Dolomitisuperski in the Alto Adige Area, very close to Austria: great landscapes, nice small villages, good kitchen.
You can ski all day long never repeating one single slope.

I went with my school to this place called "Avoriaz" located in the French alps. I do not know how much it was to go there, but I would assume that since it was the school who took us there, they would consider an affordable price. It was lots of fun there are all kinds of courses from beginners to experts and the scenery is beautiful.

If you're looking for inexpensive then I'd suggest North Italy too. Very good for beginners!

thanks melot. Let me figure out where Feisch is, and I may investigate further.

Another question for the field: are there tobaggon runs at ski resorts that a parent could do with their child? In the states, we have tubing, but very little sledding or tobaggoning. . .
