Anybody travelling to Hanoi this month (around 20th December)?
Recommendations for accomodation (around US$ 100)
Will it be cold there?
Any good shopping places?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

please dont get me wrong...just a bit curious...being a travel helper for vietnam (eight years to your credit)...hmmm...we should, instead,be seeking your help on accommodation, shopping in Nam...unless of course Hanoi has eluded you to date...in which case, my apologies...
I have been there twice, and for USD100..you could get decent ones...

Hi there, I was in Hanoi in September for 4 days. Stayed at the Zephyr Hotel near Hoan Kiem Lake. It's a ten minute saunter to the Old Quarter. But it's slightly pricey, at about US$70 for a double room.

If you don't mind slumming it a bit, I would suggest you picked a hotel in the US$30-45 range. Most of these are right in the centre of the Old Quarter, where all the buzz is. The Old Quarter is a quaint district riddled with tiny winding lanes with hundreds of small shops which sell everything from shoes to clothes to toys and fake watched.

Here's the website where I got my bookings done.

For US$ you can get good deals at the Hanoi Hilton, or if you're lucky, even the Metropole.

Have fun.
