Hey,

I'm 19 and currently studying primary teaching at Uni. I have recently heard a bit about assistant teaching in Germany. I have been to Germany before (as an exchange) and would love to work in a classroom assisting an English teacher.

Does anybody know where I should go for any information? Has anyone had any experiences doing work like this? Should I be getting a certificate in TESOL even though I just want to be an assistant.

Please, I would really like to hear from anybody.

Thanks

Hi Jess. Don't know if I can help directly, but I am currently a teaching assistant in France. For us, the application is on www.frenchculture.com and i'm sure there must be a similar site for the german one.
I don't have a teaching degree or certification - many assistants in France don't as they're not required. Great experience, easy hours, able to travel a lot. Go for it!

Hi,
I just looked up the french culture site--where do you go to find the application forms for teaching assistants ?
I'm interested in going to france next year to do this.
really appreciate your help with this-

Kathy,
My bad. I gave you the wrong address. I always forget and say .com, but its not.
So the correct site is:

www.frenchculture.ORG

So, you go there and click "education" on the left menu. Then "assistantship in France" and there it is. There is a document there to read which probably tells you all the info and if you have any questions not answered there about commitment, salary, etc., feel free to ask or check out www.assistantsinfrance.com
Keep in mind, the last deadline is Feb. 1st so don't delay if you are interested.

Cheers
Chad
