Ok Guys....I need some ideas here...Im having a crazy sleep depravation problem!!!For the past week Ive been averaging around 2 hours sleep a night, i feel tired but then cant get to sleep!!!!!!Ive tried hot milk, reading before bed, even eating a banana as apparently they are full of potassium!!!!Any one have any weird and wonderful sleep inducing anecdotes????????

Watch TV. My mom always fall asleep when she does that late at night.

Yep, my mum did it too(is it a norm?)

Consult the therapists or telling yourself to mimic the way of how a baby sleeps. With legs bending and facing to the right.
Put some glue on the wall and stick yourself on it

Lots of excercise and stuff during the day, so you are so knackeered that it happens naturally.

Lots of alcohol will also send you to sleep, but it's not actually particularly good quality sleep (according to some fancy medical study, but i forget which). But it may help...

Cover yourself with loads of cats - the heat they give off will put you to sleep. Works for Beerman!

Though, a minimum of 3 cats is required to be fully effective, otherwise they just make you drowsy. There is no maximum, but more than 6 and you won't be able to move and they get very upset if you need to get up. They will also keep your chair/sofa warm when you can't wait to use the bathroom any longer. Definitely look before sitting down or their screeching will wake you up and you'll have to start all over again. ;)

I agree with Gelli. It won't be the most restful sleep, but try a few glasses of red wine and set yourself up on the couch. You'll probably fall asleep after the late, late news and wake up with a backache - but you'll get some rest nonetheless.

haha I like the cats idea... but cats are dirty creatures of Q-Man (see 666). I have heard that 7/10 people have some level of insomnia.

And also that 56% of statistics are made up on the spot.

I sometimes have trouble sleeping so I started practicing meditation. I read about different methods and it seems to really help. I can fall asleep right away.

My worst bouts of insomnia are when I worry about having insomnia. It just turns into a viscious circle. That's why the wine-and-TV thing sometimes works. I kinda bypass the worry and just nod off.

A movie/Televsion makes it worse for me. I will not fall asleep. For me anyway the reason I can not sleep is because of so many idea's and images racing around in my mind. A constant barrage of thoughts coming and going. A television doesn't help that. (for me).

I need to slow it down, calm, relaxed. Taking in a deep breath, slowly focusing on one thought or images in my head... pushing all others out. Then pushing that single image out until there is nothing. Only calm.
