..... so come on stand up and admit it, who's afraid of England!

England, the nation that proudly brought the beautiful game to the world, has now stood up from the willderness, to take back what is rightly hers!

Watch out Australia, hopefully we'll get you in the group stage, because you wont get out of the group anyway.

USA, tschhh, useless.

xCanadax - not even in it x

who's gonna win the world cup? answers on a postcard please.

ps: dont bother putting Brazil.

Even if Canada's not officially in the Games, we're still going to win. No two ways about it. Sorry, people, that's just the way it is! ;)

Hmm, England got it easy in their group. Australia would have much preferred them to Brazil any day of the week!

Holland is going to win the cup this time. I have a good feeling about it

i am going to win the world cup. how you say? its all simple, really. im gonna hang out with the guy who takes care of it, get him real drunk, and beat him in a rock paper scisscors duel (becuase im the best person ever in rock paper scisscors, honest and for truly.) and he will have to fork it over.
then im gonna go around europe and wear it as a hat, going to see sam and letting him hold it for awhile, and eventually I'll stop by australia and give it to pete becuase he's the man. (and if i give it to sam, he'll probably drink beer or eat his cereal out of it.) crazy netherlanders. netherlandarians? i dont know, something like that.
it's all true.

So, now it's known...

Group A Germany, Costa Rica, Poland, Ecuador.
Group B England, Paraguay, Trinidad & Tobago
Group C Argentina, Ivory Coast, Serbia & Montenegro, Netherlands.
Group D Mexico, Iran, Angola, Portugal.
Group E Italy, Ghana, USA, Czech Republic
Group F Brazil, Croatia, Australia, Japan.
Group G France, Switzerland, South Korea, Togo.
Group H Spain, Ukraine, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia.

C is the tough one and E certainly awkward as all 4 teams are about the same at current level. A, D, G and H should be realtively straight forward, although there's bound to be an upset or two in there. England have come out more than ok, although it's not as easy as everybody is saying, whilst F is interesting. The Croats will have alot of support and have rebuilt after the great generation retired and the Oz - Cro game looks like a real classic in the making. Japan aren't as good as they have been in the past, but can still do anybody.

Sam, Not a fun looking group for the Dutch at all, but they should be ok. Confident?!

Pete, how do you reckon Aussie tickets are looking now, with Brazil and Croatia, probably 2 of the 3 they want to beat most, in the group?!

Now just have to wait 6 months, and several ticket lotteries before hitting Germany, hopefully with some damned WC tickets

Pretty darned hard. But the group wouldn't have mattered much to be honest. There's something like 3000/4000 tickets per game allocated for member associations. And most of them will be sold as packages, including airfares and accommodation. That presents a problem to get non-Aussies into it! Might also be near impossible for me to get anyway, with some sort of preference being given to people who have attended a lot of qualifying matches (sadly, I've only attended one and that may not be enough).

If I understand correctly there's also a lottery coming up on FIFA. That's just a case of putting our names in a hat for a bunch of matches right? I'm thinking that might be the best option! (though I might also try for a package depending on what kind of fool they think I am)

The F group, (aka the f'in group) ? Yeah, pretty interesting. Certainly Croatia is a good one - We have about 5 players of Croatian heritage and Croatia has 'stolen' a few very talented Australian born Croatians from us too, so there's something to prove there! I think Australians would have rather faced England or Italy than Brazil though. But it's all very exciting for the Aussies.
