Travel Forums Asia When should I visit Vietnam?

I am trying to plan a trip for my parents to Vietnam. I am wondering about the best time to visit. Best= nice/decent weather and a few tourists. In addition, what cities would be good to visit in Vietnam and what would be the best city to land in from the United States? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I think the best time is from Jan. to March. There are not that many tourists in VN yet, so do not worry about that. Weather is best in Jan. to March. It is as cool as it will be in HCMC and rainy season does not start until May. Hanoi will be a bit cool in Jan., if you can call 50s cool. It does not matter if you land in Hanoi or HCMC. You will want to tour the entire country anyway. I would tour the city and surrounding area after you land and then take the 'open tour' bus. It allows you to go from HCMC to Hanoi for about $25 and stay as long as you want in the cities along the way. Send me a PM if you want more details.

I agree (Jan.-Feb. is best). It gets too hot (at least for me) the rest of the year. It also depends where you go, it the far North it can be cold Jan.-Feb., but personally I find it easier to deal with cold than heat or rain.

Thanks for the help guys!! I was wondering if it would be cheaper to fly out of California..does anyone know. Normally there are not very good deals for Asia from Texas.
