Hi, Planning to meet a friend in Switzerland (either Zurich or Geneva) in July next year. Yeah a bit of a way off but hey Im a planner anyway we have a week to catch up and only firm plan that we have is we want to see the Matterhorn.
Anyone got any suggestions on where to go, remember we only have a week and want to cram as much in as possible.

Thanks,

Grüezi,

You're coming to Switzerland, that's nice...

If you have only one week and a friend to visit I would say that you don't make to many plans...a couple days in Zurich or Geneve, then maybe 2 days in the Valais to see the Matterhorn, on the way to Zermatt you might do a stop in Interlaken (Interlaken offers many things to do/Backpacker Mekka) if you have the chance I would make a daytrip to Lucerne to enjoy the lake and its surrounding...and after all that, it you still have time to kill I would go to see the Italian part (Ticino)...

I wish you a nice stay in Switzerland

Cheers,

Agree with Lucerne! but i hated Interlacken - the hostel mainly - and Geneva is a crap boring city.

Ide recommend Bern - very nice town. Solothurn is a nice wee town as well. I had a great time around the little towns around thelakes of Lucerne - i think its the nicest part of Swiss.

Neverbeen to Zurich - but looks nice. I heard Zermatt is great too - Since u want to see the Matterhorn this is where you will be going.

Grueyers (near Bern) is a beautiful town as well...and the Giger muesuem was really nice to see!
