I've decided for my next adventure I would like to go to Cuba. Does anyone have any recommendations or warnings (lol) for Cuba?

Sorry to be so rude and not introduce myself. My name is Tara and I'm from Ottawa, Canada. I'm a 25 yr old swf. I love adventuring anywhere and everywhere. I love learning from other cultures and experiencing new stuff. I'll try anything once.

Hi Tara and welcome aboard. You might want to post in the Central America forum to get some advice on Cuba in addition to what gets posted here. Not all members read the introductions section.

I was in Cuba back in 2002. I did an all-inclusive in Veradaro. I stayed at the Breezes, which is a really nice resort if you are looking for an all-inclusive. There weren't a whole lot of single, young people there, though. If you don't do an all-inclusive, there are lots of home stays and small bed and breakfasts for a decent price.

I spent only a day in Havana, and really wished I would have spent more. It's a beautiful city, with some amazing colonial buildings and forts by the harbour and a very well preserved old city. Definately go to La Floridita for a Daquari - it's where Ernest Hemmingway used to drink his.

The people in Cuba are very nice and welcoming. The only downside is that you will get approached a lot with people trying to sell you stuff, but they will leave you alone if you just say no.

Note that you are required to have a place booked at least for your first night upon arrival in Cuba, so make sure you book a hotel ahead of time.

Greg
