= sex with gusto

Who the heck is Gusto? I thought you were married to Beerman

Has anyone realised how one thing can have so many different names (and sometimes even uses) in different countries?

And thats not even confined to different countries. Different parts of the same country can call the same thing different things (and frequently do)

I've had any number of discussions with people on this trip (often Nth American "English" teachers) about the differences, and normally tried to teach the teachers how to actually speak English, although thats as much for my amusement as anything else.

Similarly (and the cause of numerous other convos) is how badly some of you Nth Americans pronounce things. It's a Tom-art-o and a Po-tate-o. Under no circumstances is it a Tom-ate-o.

Actually - it means that also. How they went from picking apples to... Well, if I really, really, really use my imagination (in the biblical sense).. It still doesn't equate!!!

Never quite understood sh*t and shite - did it make it sound less offensive? It means the same thing... Ah, language - it's "fecking" wonderful!!! (Thank you Father Ted for giving us another "clean" way of saying a naughty word!)

or...pissed? In the U.S. it means angry...everywhere else it means sauced, tanked, lit, drunk, snockered, sh*t-faced...etc....

Not to mention taking the piss, or a piss take. That's just gross.

A girl I used to go to school with, had the last name Pratt. When your 8 years old it is the funniest thing ever.

We have "Jandles" instead of "flip flops" or "Japanese slippers"
