Hi everyone. Me and my girlfriend are off for 7 months in February to a rtw trip. Going London-Mumbai,Goa,Bangalore-Singapore-Thailand-Bali-Sydney,Cairns-NZ-Fiji-L.A, We're after any tips other travellers can give us, places to see, things to do and things we should avoid etc... this is our first big trip and is both exciting and nerve racking at the same time!

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Cheers guys.:)

go to the library and check out this book its called "A global Manifesto: world stompers" by Brad Olsen - This dude wrote a book about his 3 year travel adventure - some pretty good information in there - It took me about 3 days and i got through the entire thing out of pure eagerness.

Lived in Goa for a year and visited Mumbai a lot - in India eat at the Thali (Vegan) restaurants - due to their religion the food is spotlessly prepared and we never got sick eating in these restaurants... In '93 it used to cost us about $0.50 each...

Overland travel in India is tough so be prepared, unless you are flying these legs... Trains are cramped and riding the buses are, well will leave that to your imagination...

Singapore will be so sterile after India but it's a fun city if you look hard enough - not the cheapest place in Asia that's for sure...

Thailand's great (try not to miss Malaysia - especially Penang)...

Indonesia - try to see more than Bali - eastern Java has some great places - especially around Yogyakarta... Lombok...

Heading north from Sydney, Brisbane is a fun city and to the north the beaches are superb... then not much really until the Whitsundays - worth a few days especially if you can get out to the islands (budget may preclude that), Cairns - party town...

NZ - Aukland is a super city, Rotorua is the hub of the Maori culture, Christchurch was a great place to visit and then Queenstown to get rid of any adrenaline you might have in more ways than you can count...

Fiji - try to get over to the smaller island and stay in one of the smaller villages... Nadi is a mess so leave it as soon as you can...

Don't hang out in LA - head south to San Diego - much nicer or head way north to the Oregon coast (except during winter), Seattle - one of my favorite US Cities...

We did the opposite direction but it took us 7 years not 7 months... Good luck and have a great trip...

Andrew
