Hi guys,
Just wondering if anyone can help me out with how much money I should take to be sufficient. I am travelling to uk next september after working in a italian summer camp from june-august. Would 5,000 pounds be enough, as will be working in uk as a teacher, earning around 400 pounds a week. Are there any teachers out there who have taught in uk before? also how expensive is food and rent over there
thanks
natalie

hey
how long will u be stayin here? 5000 pounds is alot of money for a holiday! Depends where u live, which city? Rent can vary a great deal from London - to a small city. 400£ week is fine - London might be tough though - but with 5000£ saved you should be ok!

£5,000 should be fine. Typically you can get a really cheap bedsit anywhere in england for about £35 a week but if you start looking in London then expect to pay upwards of £100 a week, that being quite cheap if you were in Nottingham I know of a lot of places and quite good they are too and only cost £50+ a week for a fully furnished flat! food is quite cheap, if you're easily pleased like me you can get a loaf of bread, some butter and beans for about 80p! but if you start going for more expensive bread like hovis expect to pay around 79p a loaf...one word of advice when shopping for food, avoid the Co-Op like the plague overpriced, crap customer service, shoddy food...need i say any more?. but loads of fun to be had in England, enjoy your stay!
