I am off to Honduras for some beach chill-axing over the Christmas (errr, I mean holiday) break. I am only going down for 8 days. Most of the time is planned to be spent on the Bay islands (Utila and Roatan).
I would like to go and see the ruins at Copan, though. According to the research I have done, it should take about 4 - 5 hours via bus (through San Pedro Sula) to get there. Can anyone confirm that?
Are there cheap flight options instead? I'd rather take the bus, but given the short time frame there, maybe flying is better. Does anyone know the flight schedule?
There is now a luxury bus line called Hedman Alas from SPS or La Cieba to Copan Ruins and return, website http://www.hedmanalas.com/ to find out more on Honduras go to www.honduras.com and click onto 'Honduras Tips'
The Ruins cost $10.00 US or equiv. in Lempira to enter and with a good guidebook it will take you at least 3-4 hours to enjoy them, there are multi lingual guides but cost $20.00 for 2 hour tour, great for large groups, the town is full of hotels from budget basic on up and a hopping night life atmosphere, the town is small and relatively safe.
Jungle Flying flys into Copan from Guatemala but do not know any internal flights check out http://www.bootsnall.com/articles/01-01/copn-ruins-honduras.html
