i've gone and booked my 4 month trip and now im looking for some advice on places to go and of course places to avoid!!! its my first time away and im a little nervous to say the least.
dates/times are as follows
-leave london for hong kong- feb 22nd stay for 3 nights.
-arrive adelaide 26th feb- already bought a greyhound bus pass to travel to cairns( got til may 8th to do so) was planing on gettin a flight over to fiji for a week or so??!!!
-then may 8th fly from cairns to singapore- travel to bangkok til jun 20th when unfortunately it'll b time to come home.
any advice or ideas would b greatly appreciated, especially for the singapore- bangkok leg of the journey. mode of transport would b a good start!
ps. its my first post so b gentle!
We over at TP are gentle people..anyway, welcome to the TP community!!!
ah Cairns...I love the place...so much at home..the climate and the greens!! a feng shui town, so they chinese say!
okay, ur journey from singapore to BKK...u have two options ( i take it u dont intend to fly, right?)...
option 1: bus..from singapore u can take bus (VIP bus- 18 or 24 seater)to hatyai..about 6 hrs (from Spore to KL)...the bus will pass thru Kuala lumpur, the malaysian capital...and if u want to break journey in KL, the fare from KL to Hatyai is RM40 ( another 8 hrs)..and from hatyai, u can take bus to BKK..9-10 hrs...about RM85...
option 2: train from singapore to BKK... the train will go as far as butterworth and you changer over to the Butterworth-BKK rail...you can take the berth...
taking into account the return journey, i am afraid u will be spending half the time on the road! maybe u should fly one way ? try airasia then..
Thanks for ur help! Think my last post may b a little misleading as we r travelling from singapore to bangkok one way.
Think we have approx 7weeks to do it in. A mixture of bus and train sounds like a good idea, just shorter journeys with stopovers in between.
any more advice would b great, perhaps on places to go and stay etc!?
