The best way to get updates on the condition is to call the Malayan Railway (KTM) at 03-22671200 (locally).

The Star: Train services disrupted by damaged rail tracks

PETALING JAYA: Passenger and cargo trains going north of Alor Star have been disrupted because of tracks damaged by floods.

The rising floodwaters also prevented workers from getting equipment to the affected sites for repairs.

KTM Bhd managing director Datuk Mohd Salleh Abdullah said the Senandung Langkawi express trains between KL Sentral and Alor Star would end at Alor Star instead of Haadyai in Thailand.

The floodwaters had washed away the ballast at several locations between Arau and Bukit Keteri, leaving the tracks exposed, he said when contacted yesterday.

The previous day, the service was forced to end its journey in Arau and passengers were ferried to Padang Besar by bus for their journey to Haadyai.

“We cannot ferry passengers on buses now because all roads are also under water,” said Mohd Salleh.

He said passengers forced to cancel their journey would get a full refund.

On the East Coast line, Mohd Salleh said services had not been affected.

YES,I have got the reply from KTMB...They all say the same with the news...But they also say that the situation will be changed from time to time...so I just hope that the weather there can be better so that my trip can go on...
