I've had many a travel companion, but I can tell you I sure as anything didn't pay for them, you travel with someone else because you like them, not just to pay them.... I don't think anyone would unless you are trying to state something else as part of your 'companionship' and if that is the case, then this is definitely NOT the place to be advertising that!!! You might want to consider the image you are portraying as a 20 year old young woman....

I didn't mean anything other then what is written it was an innocent thing and you had to make it sound like I was implying something else!!! About 2 years ago a mother paid for my trip to go to the Trinidad with her daughter because she didn't want her daughter to go alone, so there would be someone there with her daughter at all times in case something happens. THAT IS WHAT I MENT WHEN I WAS POSTING. But you had to make it seem like I was offering something else thats sick and disgusting.

No offence was intended and I am glad you posted explaining yourself further. I have known friends of mine whose parents have paid for a friend to join their son/daughter on a trip, but this is TOTALLY different to an open posting on a worldwide forum offering to companion a total stranger.

I am not aware of many people that will simply put up a few thousand dollars for a trip just to have some company from someone they don't know and get nothing in return; have you ever heard of this? I'd be quite interested in that myself and I think there's another few thousand members of this site that would be interested in having sponsored trips like that too

Like I said though, I meant no offense but was just stating out loud what 90% of the people reading your post would most likely think and was interested in hearing your explanation so as to deter those that would seriously consider it in the way I read it ....

Best of luck with finding someone!

Isa raises her hand as one who wouldn't mind having a sponsored trip!! As long as it's only to warm, sunny climes with palm trees...

Honestly Lyna, I'm glad you posted an explanation also. We would love to believe that all 45,000+ members are perfect ladies and gentlemen, and 99% of them are by their postings. But, no one here wants to see any member get caught up in a sticky "real life" situation because someone else misconstrued the original poster's intent. By clarifying, you have added another layer of protection against that happening to you.

Good luck with your request, and keep yourself safe.

Isa leaves to look for a sponsor who won't mind Beerman coming along.

Sorry, Lyna - your post gave me exactly the same impression. Glad you took a moment to clear it up - you never know what rare bird would have jumped at the chance. Sometimes our initial meaning gets lost in a forum...

Good luck to you. If you find that perfect travel companion, pass along their name and number. Lord knows they'll always have someone more than willing to tag along!
