Imagine being an astronaut, escaping your polluted, over-crowded, war-torn planet, and you and your fellow travellers are frozen so that you would awaken in 1,000 years time at your destination; a new, safe, virgin planet.

Part way through your trip, technology develops to the point whereby they send another space craft 200 years AFTER yours, and it overtakes your spaceship and arrives at that planet 300 BEFORE you.

So when you arrive, the new virgin planet has been populated and polluted.

Is this possible?

If you went out and committed a crime. Then an hour later cloned yourself. Which one of you is guilty ?

I'm not sure Q-Zhang, but go easy on clones; they are people too you know

provided youre the same person, your both guilty.. but only one person committed the acts. its all whether or not your clonewill make different descions than you in the future.

and the whole planet thing.. id probably just be fking flipping out that we ruined this planet and would probably burn down every building i ever saw.
but if that did happen, it would suck.

If you led a life with love and friends and all that comes with life, but got amnesia and started over at like 25, could the person that grew out of what he/she experienced after amnesia be a different person than before, despite he/she looking the same?

crazy

If you had a clone, and it killed you, would your death be classified as murder or suicide?

I think the new person would definitely be different. We are who we are due to a variety of factors, one being experience. If the 25 year old didn't have those experiences, he wouldn't be the same person. But then, he did have those experiences.

I read recently of a man who was acquitted of rape because he was sleepwalking at the time.

"Murder, the original you did not order the clone, so he took the initiative and eliminated you. His bad."

"Sounds like a US jury. We give money to morons who scald themselves with coffee. Who knew coffee was hot!?!? Perhaps his attorney convinced a jury that he had no knowledge of his actions while sleepwalking. Stranger things have happened."
