Does anyone know where I can find an apartment in Buenos Aires. I have already found numerous websites, but they are all geared towards tourists. I was assuming that local websites geared towards locals would probably list cheaper apartments. Any information would be helpful. Thanks for everything.

¿Sabes componer, hablar y leer español? If so, when you arrive, the classified sections of the B.A. daily newspapers http://www.cibercentro.com/argentina/ (English and Spanish)

Usually you will be asked 1-2 months deposit of rent in advance, furnished apartments are far more expensive, usually in the "tourist" areas. The Subte or Metro in B.A. pretty much covers the city, learn fast, I once lived in a working class area of Paris far away from Champs Eleysee, economical and friendly. Although avoid marginal neighborhoods, there are a few dangerous barrios in B.A., the natives will advise you.

the fact... like a tourist you´ll be not available to rent only if you have a warranty from a local, or probably you´ll have to pay in advance at least 6 months, someone wrote ask for it and offering fo between 600-800 pesos???, here there is a big difference even locals can´t rent without warranty...
New rules in the market!!!!

A warranty is like a co signer in the US called a fiador here in Central America. If you plan to relocate in Argentina or anywhere else in teh world for that matter, there are visas, permits and residency issues..you should be on an ex pat forum or site and not on a traveller's forum..there is an excellent group 'Friends of Argentina' on www.care2.com many members are those who made the transition themselves, others are natives of Argentina.
