Wondered if anyone could give me some advice on whether its best and cheaper to buy the greyhound or Mccaffertys passes in the uk in advance.

I sort of have an idea of what I want to see but realise that it will probably change once I arrive in oz.

any advice Id be very grateful

I agree a car is a great way to see many out the way destinations. and have absolute flexibility.

I'd wait until you get to Oz before buying any passes. Like you say, your plans will probably change once you get there and meet people. For the sake of a few pounds it's not worth sacrificing your flexibility.

Also, most activity/travel centres in Oz offer special deals when you buy passes/tours through them, such as free hostel accomodation, free internet, money off future bookings, so I'm not even sure that buying before you leave would work out as the best value.
