Who is the person that deletes answers on these forums that they think are promoting a good photo editor..

Are they really that sad????

The forums are monitered by the moderators and admin. Travel gurus also get a 'spam' button which brings the post to the attention of said moderators and administrators. The forums rules are simple. No promo's or email addresses in a post.

So why do so many people that ask for any good advice get the advice deleted.

How can a homepage be a promo?

Hi Nigwel,

I'm not sure which advice you are referring to that was deleted, but naturally these things are up to the discretion of the moderators and admin. Many things are taken into account, including how often a certain website might have been mentioned by a user.

Promoting your homepage is not allowed in the forums. You can follow the instructions in the links directory if you want to see your site linked to from Travellerspoint. I believe most members appreciate us keeping the forums clean. I'm sorry if you have difficulty with the rules.

If you start allowing homepage promo's, then eventually this forum will turn into a commercial spam forum, in which half of the threads are just to promote traffic to ones homepage.

Today, before I read this thread, I was thinking to myself how organized and "clean" these threads are. That is soley due to the moderators and their rules. This forum stands out from any other forum I have visited, and my hat's off to all the great staff members here at TP.

Not only is it "clean" but the whole layout is clear, concise and user-friendly. So many discussion boards are way too "busy" with smiley faces, photos of users, an abundance of options at the top level, etc.

Thanks for all your interest..

I thought Travel Photography Forum was for photographers like myself to give and receive advice from others and possibly show the effect of advice to others.

Maybe looking at a homepage before deleting it might make sense.

Another one for you is why do you allow people to add a webpage in their profile, is that not the same as I have done but on a forum.

Your the Boss`s so I`ll keep out of it and just read this forum and best not be giving advice on Software for photography.

Yes, adding a website in the profile is basically the same. But the websites added in the profile only show when the member has reached full member status (or had a photo featured) and therefore we are able to trust it somewhat more. Also, because it's tied to their profile, people will know that it is theirs and not a website they are pretending isn't theirs, which happens a lot as well.

Of course there are a lot of grey areas and you will find that members who have contributed to the forums for a while are given a somewhat longer leash.
