I will be heading down to costa rica this month and have a couple of days off and I am trying to get from the airport to do some rafting on the Pacuare river. Any suggestions would be helpful. I do not want to rent a car. I am flying into the airport at San Jose. Thanks.
Are you planning to do the rafting on your own? If not, any company that offers the rafting will certainly offer the 2 hour or so transfer from San Jose (I vaguely remember it taking us roughly this long but don't quote me on this). I blogged about this when I was there a few years ago, it was a fun trip
I think the company we went with was Rios Tropicales ...
Above poster is right on. Rios Tropicales is the best tour group for the Pacuare rafting trip. They do day trips to Pacuare from San Jose and other locations like Puerto Viejo on the Caribbean side.
You can arrange for them to pick you up in San Jose and return you to the Caribbean for a few days in the sun if you tell them your wishes in advance.
They also have a lodge on the Pacuare for overnight excursions.
[ Edit: Sorry, no promos please... ]
I know the operators of Rios Tropicales for years and years...contact them, book an excursion and enjoy.
thanks everyone, turns out it is easier than I thought. Yes, most will pick you up at your hotel. And the hotels bus you from the airport to the hotel-how easy is that!!!! travellerspoint comes thru again, cha-ching!!!
