Beerman and I were discussing what we would do if we were to win a sizable lottery jackpot. (We're talkin' the $50,000,000+ catagory, but it's all hypothetical anyway.) So, we've won and now have money to put to good use around the world. Being philanthropic souls, we are willing to fund projects that will benefit people of all types and cultures.
The question: What project would you like to see funded and why?
1) It is your project - meaning your idea
2) It can be similar to existing projects
3) You will be an active participant in the development of the project
4) Funding your RTW self-exploration trip doesn't count.
I would have to pour as much money as I can into funding research into getting humans to Mars. Call me a nerd, but I think that getting off this planet and onto others should be a priority for human kind. I know there is an asteroid out there somewhere with Earths name on it...
How about setting up a Documentary Production Company in order to help underprivileged and starting up Film makers to realise their dream documentary?
Oh, yeah, and some equipment would be nice too...
This will teach me to ask for detailed responses....
What type of production company? What type of documentaries? What type of planatary exploration? Do you want to be the astronaut? What's your vision? Why should we give our money to you? What role will you play in your plan? (Who, what, why, where and maybe how - skip when - it's only Monopoly money after all)

Yeah, because writing grant proposals is my idea of fun...
You got the Chocolate Factory...what else do you need!?!?!?!?
I'm going for
it's a good cause, and then, I'd put the rest in my bank to fund the opening of my hospital in East Africa somewhere someday
good question though!
If I had any money left over I'd buy a TVR Tuscan S
I can think of two projects:
First, help Dr. Amy Smith setup a non-profit engineering firm employing her students on third world projects.
Second, there's a prof. I know at the U of Toronto who is trying to develop dirt cheap medical diagnostic tools for the 3rd world. She could use a $50million shot in the arm.
And if there's any money left, I'd buy 50 acres in the Rockies and build one of these
First: I would have to take care of all my family and friends and make sure that any and all needs would be taken care of.
Second: Scholarships. Setting up scholarships for kids that have goals towards the betterment of the environment and school systems. With specific goals towards educating children. Our best hope for the future is the education of the young. Funding students who are interested and want to develop alternative fuel sources.
Third: Affordable and instructive child-care. A fun learning environment for kids. Something that can be franchised.
And for me - one of the log cabins in Quan's link would be nice. Oh, how could I forget, funding for TP. Maybe something to sponsor travel education and start a TP travel gear line. Maybe something for donating travel equipment or a barter and trade system, linked through TP. Who knows what I could do with $50 mil? It is fun to dream, though!
chocolate factory and a tp island !!!!!!
other then that i would invest a lot of money into cancer research..
