I don't know if anyone's said this already, but I recently visited South Africa, and those were the friendliest people I've ever met.

Japanese folk were the nicest I've met. I didn't meet a single person there who gave me reason to think otherwise.

I rather judge a person as an individual. There are friendly and rude people to be found everywhere.

Also: a bad experience in Benidorm, doesn't say anything about the rest of Spain.

Peruvian people are very kind and friendly. I was surprised by their warmth. I went to Lima a couple of months ago and they treated me really nice.

quite honestly, i hate to generalize when it comes to cultural diversity and ethnicity...

i am from canada, and yes i have pride and love my home and fellow citizens, but i have also seen the brutal reality and the "other side" of many canadians... not everyone is so nice... and the same goes for other countries... i have travelled enough to have met genuinely nice people from ALL over the world, but have also met some not so nice ones... it all depends on your encounter and situation!!

also, i believe i have posted this before, but...

"do not judge a man by his country, nor a country by a single man"...

The Polish!! The nicest people! We got lost so many times, and they were always out to help with no want of a reward.

like someone else previously said, it is hard to make a generalization about an entire nation (or culture) of people. there are always exceptions to the rule....

nonetheless, here are my votes...
1. love love love australians...so friendly and always up for a trip to the pub :)

2. also love the people of fiji...

3. italians...their hospitality cannot be matched. i traveled there with a friend and we felt so incredibly welcome.

The first country that comes to mind is Canada, as well as the US states up by Canada such as Washington and Wisconsin.

I also think of the southern French as being extremely warm people, and many Italians as well (I've only been to northern Italy, but I've gone three times and most people there are very nice). I've been corresponding with a French third cousin once removed and she is so friendly, kind, welcoming, and understanding of my iffy French that it's actually brought tears to my eyes. I know this is kind of horrible, but I like her a lot better than many of my American relatives...

I've also met several very friendly Germans here in my native San Francisco, and of all my friends' families, the Indian one is definitely the warmest.

The not so nice list: Many Parisians, Czech people esp. in the eastern countryside (they always assumed we were German and expected us to reply in German at restaurants, etc and seemed quite annoyed that we did not speak German), and the grumpy old Italian man who YELLED at me on a train for being too loud and wiggly. I was only nine, not even sitting next to him, and I still feel hurt to this day haha.
