There are a number of words I dislike:

1. Village - why are suburbs of large cities often referred to as villages? I haven't seen a horse and cart carrying hay for quite a while in London, Sydney, New York, etc.

2. Gateway - some places are described as the "gateway to blah, blah, blah". This usually means that the place in question has nothing at all going for it except being 100 miles or so from somewhere that might.

3. Du Jour - fine to use if you are in France or a French speaking area, but not so fine to use if you are not. So don't use it.

4. Eclectic - usually used by someone who wants you to think that they are somehow cooler/groovier than you are in their taste in music/homewares/fashion, etc. Note to person: listening to Cafe Del Mar or wearing faded jeans does not make you groovy.

5. Quintessential - a word overused by people trying to have you believe that what they have to sell you is either the best of it's type when in actual fact it's rubbish. Steer well clear of something described as being the "quintessential experience".

yes!

Mine is the word:chick. Imagine a brood of chicks walking down the street? Oh? Do they(females) really happy to be called as in the way? It's quite a word similar to the term used to describe 'girlfriend' in Cantonese as 'fo' (meaning 'goods')...what a bad one! Don't blame the guys to name such as girls never have the awareness to fight to erase these terms!!!

At the moment it's "cla'" - what the hell's so hard about pronouncing two little "s"es?

But generally I'd say "mathematics" or "chemistry". Too many bad memories.

Spoon...

What's that about?

Will you accept "spork"?

I'm tired of "basically" in every sentence.
