I'm going to Costa Rica in April for 1.5 months and then Ecuador for another 2. I'm going alone. Will this be ok? And are there any tips on where is good to go? Or trips that you have been on?

Costa Rica should not be a problem for a solo female traveller. I met a girl down there travelling on her own. She said that fellow travellers she met in the hostel were worse than the locals. As for things to do, check out my advice here in my Costa Rica travel blog.

I have not been to Ecuador, so I will let someone else comment.

This honesty I like..when I was a guide based in Guatemala, aside from the ever present pickpockets working the crowded 'tourist' markets, my clients had far more problems with fellow 'travelers' and I became a bad guy a few times since I ejected or refused transportation to those choosing to carry or even consume illegal substances on my property..the vehicle. One of the 'offended' even ran around town telling people I was cheating people out of money, etc...good thing people knew me. An employee of the hotel I worked out of in Lake Atitlan, Guatemala, once found more than $1,000 cash in one of the rooms, turned it in to the owner (this employee is a very poor person in terms of money, very rich at heart, he is still there), the next year the Italian couple, who had left in a hurry to catch transportation very early to the airport in the capital city, returned, got their money back and the employee got a nice reward. 16, 17, 18 years ago were far fewer vehicles in the Guatemalan Highlands, I helped save lives and in return my life was saved twice. Recently in San Salvador, where I now reside, I boarded a city bus with a bag full of groceries, a woman came up to me and handed me a small bag, containing my cellphone, that had slipped out of the larger bag as I was boarding the bus, she would not even take a reward.
I am an "ex pat" (resident)and we have seen and heard it all (Life in the tropics)the majority of the travelers are great people but the first world has a far higher percentage of psychopaths and sociopaths than the developing world...
Take care traveling alone and when staying in the 'cheapie' hostels
join the hospitality clubs and stay with natives and ex pat residents..more info. message me.
