On a similar line of thought... any ideas how to keep:- passport, tickets, travel insurance docs, prescriptions, emergency numbers etc all together for the duration of a year round Australia?

Thinking maybe some sort of folder, but then is it wise to keep all of that stuff together incase it's stolen?

first of all make copies of every important piece of paper and give your parents a copy and keep a copy of everything in your suitcase or something like that, if you are staying for a longer period of time, put in perhaps in a locker?

and if you know where you can stay, and that there is a bus going, or train.. it's easier not to plan everything, but just to know where you can find the information, something like knowing that you have a dictonairy if you need something, rather that learning each word by heart.

or just buy a good guide book?

I scan in important documents (passport, visas, travel insurance card) and email them to myself as well. Or, I know that LonelyPLanet.com offers a free "travel locker" to store e-documents online as well.
