I will be heading off on my 1st trip to South America in February for two weeks. I fly into and out of Lima. While there, I would like to travel to Bolivia and Ecuador as well and see: La Paz, Lake Titicaca, Machu Picchu, and the Gallapagos Islands. I know that time is going to be tight, but I would really like to see all of the above. Has anyone attempted this before and is it possible?
In two weeks, that's really probably too much. I think in two weeks you could do Lima to Cuzco, go to Machu Pichu, head to Lake Titicaca and then do La Paz, and back to Lima. Sadly, I would drop the Gallapagos.
Sorry but do it by bus in 2 week is impossible. The distance are big.
If you have 2 weeks I recommend that you land in La Paz and take off from Lima it will save 3 days travelling that you can expend during the trip.
If you do so it will be better because La Paz is 3.600 meters high and Lima is sea level.
Time to travel
from Lima to Arequipa 14 hours
Arequipa to Cusco 10 hours
Cusco to Puno - 10 hours
Puno to Copacabana ( Bolivia) - 4 hours
Copacabana to Lapaz - 4 hours.
Thanks, I took the advice and decided to save Ecuador for the next trip!
