Man, so I just got back from seeing the new movie Hostel. TP'ers beware. You might want to put off your travel plans for a while.
I wouldn't say the movie was great. It was pretty gruesome and gory but a very entertaining story. It'll make you jumpa couple of times. Unfortunately, it seems to take more and more to really shock people. Amazing how unhhhh...twisted, for lack of a better word, peoples minds can be.
Post here if you see this movie.
Urgh... Just looked it up... think I will make a point of not seeing it!
I've seen the previews and am not sure if I want to see it... I've stayed in enough "iffy" hostals that I know I don't need anything else to deter me from wanting to stay in them!
Yeah, I'm telling you - it was pretty gruesome. I am probably pretty jaded when it comes to movies and all the violence and all that. Not as bad as Reservior Dogs but I'm telling you - its a pretty evil premise that they are basing things on. I don't want to give things away or anything just remember 'It's just a movie.' or is it!
Alright. If you can deal with that and enjoy it, also. Take it for what it is, ya know. Its a pretty good movie. Not too long, like an hour and a half. But I have to admit that I did enjoy this movie. For some reason, though, I have an incredible fear of staying in a Hostel in Bratislava, Czechoslovakia.
I loved Reservior Dogs!
One of my favotites - but most anything by Tarantino or Robert Rodrigues is at the top of my list!!!! (I have the Mr. Pink copy of Resevoir Dogs with Steve Buschemi on the cover!)
We keep seeing the previews for Hostel and want to see it!! (At our "advanced ages, we have "moved beyond" hostels and know we will be safe and sound in our hotel bed - while the rest of you fear for your lives...)
Tarantino's name is on the film but I believe that he only produced the film. Maybe a little with the direction but they only threw his name up there for marketing.
Funny, if you read some of the quotes on one of the commercials. Where they say something like "Stunning, edge of your seat blah, blah, blah" read the source from where it is quoted. It looks like it is a bogus source. Like something just made up for the commercial. I have only seen that commercial a couple of times.
Yup - he's only one of the producers - but he only produced (and acted in) From Dusk 'Til Dawn and Destiny Turns On The Radio. Two very good films. (Well, and produced Robert Rodrigues' last two El Mariachi trilogy movies - Desperado and Once Upon A Time In Mexico.)
I still want to see the movie - also glad I'm staying in hotels while on vacation!!!!
[ Edit: I screwed up - and fixed it... ]
Went to the Hostel site http://www.hostelfilm.com/ and that's creepy in itself. Watched the clips and have just figured out what the film is about...yeuch!
It won't be released here in the UK for a while, probably be released while I'm backpacking! might still go and see it
