I'm considering travelling around America for about a month or two.
Coming from Toronto, where do you suggest I fly into? LA and go up the coast from there perhaps?
Also, are cheap hostels easy to find around the States? What would be the best way to travel around? Bus? Would it be possible to work anywhere simple while I travel (ie. bars, or little shops on the beach)? How much money would I need to bring with me for about a month?
One more important question: how easy or hard is it to just land and go? What would you tell the customs officers for instance?
If anyone could pls provide some advice that would be great.
customs is easy enough so dont worry about that
LA is good place to start and work your way north to canada.
ride share -- > http://losangeles.craigslist.org/rid/ best for short notice (a week or less)
LA visit San Diego, head east to Las Vegas, then Yosemite, Monterey, Santa Cruz, San Francisco, Oregon/Washington.
Greyhound can possibly meet your needs (bus).
not sure about hostels but you can try this: http://www.globalfreeloaders.com/
Thanks. I think you pretty much answered all my questions.
What about working here and there while I travel around? Would that be feasible considering I don't have any sort of work visa/permit?
Any advice on that would be great.
You may also want to check out "Hostelling International" for hostels around the United States. The website is www.hiusa.org.
Hope this helps,
