Hi all,
I'm planning on heading to Melbourne for a bit in the near future and was wondering if anyone has any hostels to recommend. I'm not really into the party/drinking-games hostels, just something cheap and cheerful with a relaxed atmosphere, so if you've stayed somewhere like that I'd be really grateful to hear from you!

Thanks:)

Tara

I've only heard good things about the Greenhouse downtown. The Nunnery in Fitzroy also gets a good rap.

Not exactly the cheapest in town, but definitely cheerful and relaxed: Chapman Gardens YHA (now Melbourne Oasis). It's a bit out of the way, but the tram stops right next door, and the area it's located in is really nice and quiet, with swarms of rainbow lorrikeets swooping out of nearby Royal Park each day around sunset.
