Travel Forums Asia Travelling around Southeast Asia

I'm doing some research about travelling around aouth east asia. Just wondering has anyone done this and what the best time of year is to go weather-wise? I'm not too bothered about it being very hot, just don't want to go when it's the rainiest time of year (was looking at this october but this seems to be the crappest time to go in a lot of places?)

Ideally I'd like to travel from China to Thailand, Vietnam,Cambodia/ Malaysia & Singapore (not necessarily in that order though)

any help or advice would be great thanks

I think the rainy seasons are different all over South East Asia so if you plan your trip to be the dry season in one country it might still be the rainy season when you get to somewhere else.

I was in Thailand last year during December and January and the weather was pretty good then, but even during the dry season there were still a couple of occasional rainy days. I spent most of the time on the East Coast though, so I think other parts of Thailand were in their wet seasons whilst the East was in the dry.

I've also went to Singapore a couple of times (once in February and once in May) and both times were pretty similar weatherwise. It was basically really hot and even when it rained it was only for a short time (although when it did rain it was full on tropical rain).

You're doing something similar to me, cept I'm doing Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, China (from Bangkok-Hong Kong). Leaving on monday! yippee!!! Will be out of China by about July I think.
I'm not sure when the rainy season is for all of these, but I expect to get sun and rain at various times,,,

Hi

I was in Thailand for 6 weeks from mid september. The first 4 weeks were perfect - hot, sunny & no rain! But the last week or two of october was torrential rain in each place we went.

We went through to Malaysia and singapore from there and the weather was the same. Although it dries up really quickly due to the heat and you can be back on the beach an hour or so after a storm!!

Apparently october always has the worst of the rain

I have found that the travel guide for Singapore/Asia provided @ http://guide.thegoldenvalley.co.uk are very usefeull for cheap holidays or more expensive ones.

I'm in Cambodia at the moment and it is nice. It's pretty hot during the day (late 20c) but it's not overbearing. Someone told me that now is a good time to come as it's there winter but is still nice. It was nice in Bangkok too. I think it might be a bit colder in North Vietnam but I haven't seen any rain yet (although it's only day 6!)
