I've got a choice of stopover at the beginning of my rtw trip. Toronto or Vancouver? Any suggestions as to which would be good? I'll be there for 3 days.

I'm thinking Vancouver but that's because it 'sounds' better.

Which would you choose?

It would depend on the date. If it's winter or early spring, I would choose Vancouver. If it's summer, Toronto might provide something to entertain you for 3 days. There are many festivals that occur in Toronto in the summer that are worth checking out.

When are you travelling?

i am from vancouver but currently live near toronto. i would suggest vancouver because the climate is more mild and there are plenty of hikes and things to see all year round. toronto has a lot of concrete and most canadians wouldn't really pick it as a holiday destination, but some people would consider vancouver a holiday destination.

Im from Vancouver also, and would definetly recommend it! The airport is beautiful, the city is beautiful and the people are really nice. When is your stop over?

Hi -

Thank you for your replies.

I will be in Canada approx 20th Nov 2006. I will have 2 full days.

Any idea if you can go 'whale watching' in YVR this time of year?

Thanks again,

In November, Vancouver would probably be better. Toronto will be cold and grey. Vancouver will just be rainy. ;)

Enjoy Canada.

I lived in Vancouver for 6 months and had a stopover in Toronto for a day on my way home to England. I would definately recomend Vancouver, there is so much to see and do, with Stanley park and the night life downtown. The hostels are nice and the people are really friendly.
I had an amazing time in Vancouver!

You really can't compare the two cities, they are very different, but both are great places.

In November, the weather will be cooler in Toronto, but it may be rainy in Vancouver. In terms of natural beauty, Vancouver is the clear winner. In terms of culture and actual things to do, I think Toronto has more than Vancouver.

Where are you coming in from? Where are you headed to after?
