Don't go on "The Pride of Airlie".

Its a Catamaran which takes 30 people - far too many to be friendly. You stay in crap accomodation on South Molle Island (hours from anything worth seeing) and they feed you rubbish food and try to pressure you into playing really crap drinking games. yuck.

Thanks Amy and Liz... i'll certainly avoid the Pride of Airlie in any case

Im going to leave it a short while and see what to do, i never was very decisive :)

LOL-never a decisive person eh! I'm terrible.

Yeh i'd say leave it till you get there you can ask about then and you will meet and speak to other people (well i hope you speak to others, lol)

People who i was with on the Oz buses booked it thru Oz Ex. or thru one of the hostels.Aren't you with Oz Ex. anyway-they really do give you good advice and book the better places etc.

I'm sooo bored!

Hey Jas :)

Yeah im with Oz-experience (finally decided and now all booked), when i asked them they said that they dont do the Whitsundays booking - though i think they actually meant its not a part of the trip lol. (thats a shame, would have saved me a bit of cash!).

I probably will wait, however the cruise i was thinking of looked pretty good and apparently get booked weeks in advance - but hey im a risk taker (or just plain indecisive and lazy, i cant decide which )

How long till you go then Jas? .. just 7 weeks for me!

15. Posted by lil j (Travel Guru 1303 posts) 10y

Well only 3 weeks to go for me...all excited and well a lil unprepaired but i'll get there...i hope!

Oh i actually meant they will give you a advice on companies to book through. I know someone who works for backpackers world, who i met out there, i think he did the cruise. There's was someone who did and said that they went with someone really good. If i remember i will let ya know.

See i like sorting out other people but when its me i just cant b.bothered-how terrible! I've only not been working for a month now and i'm soo lazy!!

awww...your cat...is gorgeous!!! sorry i love animals!!! haha-i'm not weird!

17. Posted by James1976 (Budding Member 41 posts) 10y

Blimey not long to go Jas! bet you're well excited. I still have to slave away at work for another 6 weeks before i leave. I cant even decide on a backpack lol - im just terrible!

Yes i see, well if you remember then that would be great about the cruise. I know what you mean, not minding to help others but when its comes to yourself, just cant be bothered and leave it as long as possible! Think you and me have the must same traits lol

Yeah my cat 'Puss' is great, he can be a right little bugger though lol. Im quite an animal fan as well - especially cats. I not wierd either...ha ha.

I definitely would book before you get there- I was there in off-season even, and we had a hard time getting on the island that we wanted and we had to settle and go on another one, and although it was beautiful still, we didn't get the boat trip we wanted, etc..

I spent 3 months in Airlie Beach and never once heard of people not getting on the boat they wanted to.

if you book in advance you will not get stand by rates which are only offered in Airlie beach. The savings can be over 100 - 150 dollars per person, plus why would you want to by a trip where the staff have no experience let alone boat knowledge. TRUST ME dont book it until you get to Airlie you wont miss out and will save a fortune.

If you are looking for information I found -snip- really informative regarding the boats and the local area.

[ Edit: Sorry, no promos please... ]

Hi,

Thanks for your advice, i am considering waiting till i get there as you suggest. I still have boats in mind that i might take, but perhaps i will go and see whats available on arrival. If i meet other people travelling and they want to do the same thing then at least i'll have the choice

Mr indecisive, tahts me!
