Don't handle live chickens or dead chickens (raw chicken.) I eat chicken all the time in Asia - cooked well done of course!

I do avoid bars, hotels, or places that have live birds on display (like parrots) because there is a slight chance that they can transfer the flu to humans. Why - because wild birds steal food from chickens or ducks, mingle with them, the same wild birds also fly into the parrot cages and steal their food. It was reported that in Britain, Parrots from South America were in quarantine with infected birds from Asia - the parrots supposedly died from the bird flu.

That report about the parrots proved to be a false alarm.

However, Bird Flu is working its way towards continental europe - there were quite a few cases in Turkey last week.

:(

Well, anyway, the South African parrots getting the bird flu from the Asian birds sounded pretty good!

I'd hate to be a chicken farmer in Turkey right now.
