I would like any advice on what to do on a weekend in Barcelona.
I will be there from Friday 10th -Monday 13th Feb.
What to do during the day???
Especially what to do at night??? Good bars/clubs/restaurants etc.
All advice and ideas welcome
Thanks a lot
There's loads to do in Barcelona! Go on a Gaudi trail and see all his strange and wonderful buildings (esp Sagrada de Familia) and the Park Guell (I think that's what it's called)
I also loved the fact that you can go and visit the Olympic Camp and have a swim in the Olympic pool for 2 euro! It's not that far from the City itself and there are great views from it.
There's a fantastic restaurant for starting off the evenings called Le Quinze Nitz ( i may have the spelling wrong, sorry) that has EXCELLENT and YUMMY food for very reasonable prices. I was there two years ago and a three course meal with wine set two of us back only 20 euro. If your into clubbing, the gay clubs in Barcelona are, in my opnion, the craziest in Europe. There's a great club called Dietrich which is entirley based on the singer Marlene Dietrich and every night there is a different, and always unusual, highlight which included trapeze acts, drag queen dramatists and acrobatics on the nights I was there.
If your not into the gay scene, then there are loads of other places to go, but I would highly recommend Dietrich for ANYONE who wants a fun night out whether they are straight or gay.
I forgot to mention the shopping, it's fantastic in Barcelona!
Enjoy your trip!
Great Thanks. Any recommendations on a really nice hotel???
hotel neri just off the rambala is AWSOME plasma tv in the room cd player with speakers in the ceiling and bathroom etc. etc. very nice but about 220 euro 300$ american a night.
Check out the Boccadera Market, its really pretty and colourful! You simply Must go to Parc Guell and check out all the Gaudi work, its amazing! Theres a fabulous restaurant, Im not at home right now so I dont have my little book, but theres a big main square bit just off the ramblas which has got several restaurants....theres one, you will know it when you see it, I cant think of the name but every evening around 11pm you will see a huge queue outside of it and it looks really expensive...however we couldnt believe how cheap it was and the food was amazing!Fantastic atmosphere and divine wine selection!!!Nighlife-wise, i would head to the tiny sidestreets, you find some really quaint little bars, theyre kinda dirty but theres some really cool ones and you meet some interesting people!Have fun!!!
I dont mind paying extra for a hotel, i want something different and special.
I'll check out Neri, thanks.
Just one other quick question. Where's the best area to go out at night?? There's nothing worse than wondering the streets looking for bars etc...
Just two notes:
- The place from where you can get all the views and go to the olimpic swimming pool is called MONTJUIC.
- And the Market's name is "La Boquería", which is usually packed, but cool for a foreigner to see.
Just to get you the names right, so that you can ask for the places correctly ;-)
Thanks for all that info. Where is Tibidabo? Whats up there? Can i get a taxi to it from city? Also where is Port Olympic, What's there? How far from the city?
