Hi I am new here and I am so glad I found this place. Well to sum it up I am looking for options on travelling to Finland for about August this year. We are going to Ankkarock hopefully and we might want to do some more travelling around Finland such as visiting Tampere, Nokia, Espoo and Rantasalmi.
I just wanted to know whether it is cheaper taking the train to Finland or taking the plane. I live in England, Derbyshire and any info would be much appreciated. Thanks.
To me it seems like a long way to go by train.
I would at least take a plane to finland and then maybe train from there.
There are cheapflights from Standsted to Tampere
And from Edinburgh to Helsinki
Thanks alot for the reply.
Thats what i thought myself. Well thank you and if anyone else has any other help especially with Ankkarock then please help.
Thank you for the plane info aswell
Seconded @ rather fly. I might go to Ankkarock too (hopefully), if I can make it there.
Thats great. I would really like to see who else is going to Ankka so I know more people there. If you are going let me know. Theres no info on it yet though as its not until August.
There are many large rock festivals in summer around here besides Ankkarock, Provinssirock in June and Rabarock in Estonia a week before that. And a few more around that time, just gotta wait for the programs to be announced.
Regarding Ankkarock, just so you know, the venue is right outside Helsinki and is easily accessible by local train from the city.
Just paid 38,22 EUR for a return ticket Tampere-Stansted,
including taxes! Not bad, huh?
Thanks for the info on the festivals, I already knew about Provinssirock but I had not heard about the other one so I will look into it. Thanks.
And the train info aswell, I knew it was pretty close to Helsinki but was not sure how close so I can look into that now aswell.
What a cheap flight! Hopefully mine will be that cheap! Who was it you are flying with?
Thanks for all your help peeps.
Don't want to advertise, so I'll just say that you'll find the info in georgep's post.
