You can charge your ipod from any usb point (it's your p.c that detects your ipod not the other way round but if the p.c has itunes on it be careful it does'nt wipe all your tunes off your ipod when it tries to update with the blank itunes library on the p.c your charging it on.....change the setting so it does'nt update.

just buy a plug in charger off ebay or summin. dont bother charging it on a pc because you dont get as much charge out of it and it takes longer, so there for you have to charge it and wait for sitting at a pc. buy a wall charger, stick it in over night and thats it. job done.

Hey,

I was going to ask this exact question as obviously you can't just plug it into the wall with the adaptor when backpacking and going from hostel to hostel as someone would nick it during the night! I think in my case my only option will be on a pc when visiting an internet cafe, even though i have all the adaptors to charge in the wall.

Good advise about ensuring it doesn't wipe all your tunes (updating it) when you plug it into different computers!

If someone who has done a RTW backpacking trip could give me some advice on whether it is worth taking my ipod with me that would be great.

Hi all, i've been travelling with my 30GB i-pod for 6 weeks and would recommend buying the apple charging unit for around 25 quid. charge it overnight in your hostel while you're sleeping or in the day if you're in the room. i found most people in my dorms pretty trustworthy and left it in room to charge during the days sometimes when doors were locked and hostel seemed safe. beware apple claim on battery life, at best mine lasts around 6 hrs, not the 16 apple states in its literature!

Quoting alex23ti

There's an gizmo that lets you attach batteries to your ipod saw it on the apple site.
Not very specific I know but alittle info to help!

Belkin Battery Pack for iPod is what you're talking about:

However, it might be possible to find it elsewhere for cheaper.

unless you intend to spend either no time lisening to you ipod or the whole of your travelling time in an internet cafe charging the thing ,just buy a charger 1 hour of charge will give it 85% from flat, mine takes 6-10 hours to fully charge on my low power usb port

G'day,

I just bought a Kensington Travel Plug Adapter w/ USB charger - it is perfect! Cost $45 Aussie and can convert to plug into over 150 countries. It also comes with a AC Adapter cap which converts the USB connection into a adapter for all other appliances - i dont think there i a better univeral plug out there!

Cheers,

Shaun
