Hey guys and gals,

Just been looking into applying for my whv for oz in Sept 06. Its says you can apply for a further 12 months, as long as you have done at least 3 months work and have proof of it. It then says working in Sydney, Newcastle, Wollongong, Central Coast, Gold Coast, Perth, Melbourne or the ACT is not valid. If everyone goes to Sydney first (which is what i was planning on doing!) how are you supposed to get work which qualifies to extend the first visa??? Hope that made sense and that someone will be able to explain!! Oh and another thing...you also need to show you have a return flight ticket but if you get to extend your visa, will your flight ticket be valid for the whole 24 months??
Thanks
Alison x

Thanks guys, i'll have to think about that one! Not done any kind of work like that before, so if anyone has and they have any advice on what its like please let me know. I suppose 3mths isn't that long to gain an extra 12mths, although if you get denied the 2nd visa its a big chunk of time to miss out on seeing places.

I have just completed my 3 months harvest work. Its not as bad as it sounds and when you look at it that you'll get another year out of the deal its even better. The work is mundane and you are standing or working outside alot but its not so bad. Its mainly in small towns in the middle of nowhere which sounds bad too but I had the best times in some of those small towns. There isnt much to do so you get to save money too and you get to see how the locals live as staying in the cities you only really meet other travellers and no Australians which isnt really the point of being in australia is it. I had a good time and I'll get to stay in oz for another year too. Good deal.

brittchic8, how was the pay? What kind of harvesting job did you do, and how was the accommodation arranged? How much did the accommodation cost? How did you manage financially?

...there are so many questions that I'd like to ask, 'cos I plan to apply for WHM visa soon too.
