To my mind, I will never believe in same sex "marriage". It simply doesn't make sense to me, and no amount of argument from anyone will have me believe that a guy being sexually attracted to another guy is normal or natural.

But as I've said in the past; what two guys get up to in their bedroom is their business - not mine. But when laws have to change to accommodate this, then it becomes my business, and I will voice my opinion, which is pretty much "keep it in the bedroom".

Plus, all of this stuff about discrimination is just pure rubbish. We are all "discriminated against" in a manner, due to societies laws, norms and rules. If a guy wants to leave some property to his boyfriend, then he should take control of his own life and change his will. If a guy wants to leave his superannuation to his boyfriend, then he should nominate him as his beneficiary on his superannuation form - it ain't rocket science.

Just to be a devil's advocate:

In Canada you can take advantage of certain tax breaks by playing certain well known and legally accepted "tricks" on your tax return. Similarly, spouses can often share in company dental and medical plans. Basically these are all legal mechanisms invented to help two people live together and raise children. All things that you can't "take responsibility" for since to do it any other way is illegal.

I totally agree with james-he is logical in his thinking-if everyone was like him-my, wouldnt the world be a better place.

If something's not affecting you then dont get involved, keep out of it!

marrage was formed to have children. people don't want children they don't want work . most people only want the money . gays don't need the tax advantages of married couples as usually they don't have children. unless they are not gay but by/sexual. everyone can fantisize like a married person an look at someone beautiful but don't touch. if every one does what they like morrality will be worthless.
however I do have gay friends and all they would like is fairness. able just to acknowledge partners. they get on with there lives and their positions ! in life are not thrown for all to see. sexuality need not be paraded in front of people who don't want it. up to the age of early 20's some people confuse sexuality with just admiring someones finer points. most people can understand why a person of the same sex is beautiful and sexy without wanting to engage. theres a big diference and difficult to reverse. good people make it through life in any sex

it must be easy in a same sex relationship - no pregnancy. roll playing. more money to spend on each other or ones self. you can take companies to court for discrimination and when you get promoted you can still say "discrimination" ie. they only promoted me because..... and no children. you can just buy the toys for yourself.
. i went to school with a boy who played the part really well. he would say all the other boys are outside and i'm here with all the girls smoking in the loo. so who is and who are just playing the part i don't know?? what are the limitations what is moral and what is illegal- strange world

On one hand we hear about discrimination in the workplace against gays, then we hear that the average gay male has a higher disposable income than the average heterosexual male. So which one is it?

I'm not going to argue any grand philosophical beliefs here about what I THINK is right or wrong, but what bothers me the most is that government (mine for example) spends so much Fing time worrying about this. Seriously, don't we have enough of an unbelievable mess on our hands that pissing away time trying to prevent John and Joe from getting married is not only utterly useless, but also completely absurd? If a church wants to tell it's members that being gay and getting married is sinful, well I'm okay with that. That's their belief and their right to do so.

I really liked that quote about homosexuality v.s. poverty in the Bible. Seriously, if the Bible really is your bag baby, aren't their bigger fish to fry than preventing the happiness of others? Let thee who is without sin cast the first stone; uh GW, I'm pretty sure you can put that rock down.

I do not know if this is apocryphal or not. I does address picking and choosing selective Bible passages to make your point. This was to Dr. Laura Schlessinger; radio talk show host who is a bit opinionated. (IMHO)

Dear Dr. Laura:

Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's Law. I have learned a great deal from your show, and try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. End of debate. I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some of the other specific laws and how to follow them:

When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord - Lev.1:9. The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?

I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?

I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness - Lev.15:19- 24. The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.

Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify?
Why can't I own Canadians?

I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?

A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination - Lev. 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree.
Can you settle this?

Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?

Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev. 19:27. How should they die?

I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?

My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev. 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? - Lev.24:10-16. Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)

I know you have studied these things extensively, so I am confident you can help. Thank you again for reminding us that God's word is eternal and unchanging.

Your devoted fan,
Jim
