Hello, i am planning a part two to my Eurpean Journey from last spring. I went to London, Paris, Monaco, Nice, and Rome.

This year I am planning to go to Amsterdam and Venice as well as a few other places which i need advice on. My 3 other friends coming say one of the cities should be Barcelona, however being that we are more "action guys" i think it would be a boring city.

If you have any advice on Barcelona(what there is to do there) and/or have any suggestions on the next best cities to go to in Europe please reply to this post.

Thanks Everyone,

I have never heard anyone say Barcelona is boring. Although i didnt really care for it and think its way overrated - i wouldnt say u would ever be bored there.

How long u traveling for?

Amsterdam to Venice - u have heaps in between!
Berlin should be on the list - Prague and Budapest I would think as well

Hello!I loved Barcelona...all the Gaudi work is amazing and the atmosphere on Las Ramblas is great!Theres a lot of good bars and fantastic restaurants!Venice is cool and from there you could get a bus up to Vienna or down to Florence or Milan!I just got back from Milan where I spent sometime in both the city and the Lakes!Lake Como was beautiful!

What do you mean by 'action'? Barcelona is a lively city. If it's nightlife you're after, Barcelona is a good choice. If you want to see architecture, culture, etc.. it is a great choice. Gaudi's structures were a highlight for me as well when I visited. It certainly is not a boring city!

As an alternative, Madrid has a stronger reputation for its nightlife (among the best in all of Europe) - if that's your thing, it would be a good choice. But Madrid lacks somewhat in history, being a relatively new city. Though it does have some world class art galleries also.

Depends what kind of 'action' you're after

and don't plan to stay too long in Amsterdam, it's not worth it..

I never been to barcelona, but i heard great stories about it, from everyone who's been there..

perhaps you can travel also trough the small towns of france? swiss perhaps and than northern italy? but the option berlin and than towards eastern europe sounds also really good

and the coffeeshops he? ;)

but i think 3 days is enough, one night to get really drunk, one to get stoned..and one day to stay sober ;)

Yeah about three days is good for Amsterdam...make sure you visit the Anne Frank house, Van Gogh Museum, take a wander up through all the canals and the Red Light district to see all the chicks with their feather boas in the windows!!!If youre looking for a good "coffee shop" check out La Chocolata (it has a website) it has the most bizarre and scary spiral stairs I have ever seen and really nice 'hot chocolate'!
