I met a lot of people while I was away, who were a long way from home on a long trip and like me, had often experienced this dream:

You dream you have gone home, but just for a weekend, to see your mum, or do some washing, or pick-up something you've forgotten. But then you realise, panicking, that you are supposed to be in Australia/Thailand/India/Peru or wherever and you have just wasted your return ticket and thats it! You can't afford to get back but you are supposed to have 6 months left.

Its most unpleasant until you wake and realise where you are.

Does anyone else have this, or any other weird dreams when away?

I don't think I've ever had recurring dreams, but my boyfriend - who lives in Ireland - is a bit of a sleepwalker. It tends to be 'triggered' whenever he spends a night in a new place or a new country, usually the first night when he's over with me or vice versa.

The first time he asked me "Who are you?" But he also jumps out of bed to hide from strange "men" lurking in the corner, tries take cover because the roof is caving in, and in one memorable incident he threw the covers over his head and sang "yii, yii, yii!" for no aparent reason. This last time he was over, he got up, walked around the bed, sat down next to me, and told me to move over. When I asked him why, he said it was because I was intimidating him with all the place I was taking up.

He tells me he once got into bed beside his friend's father over and over again one night at a sleepover when he was a kid. Unlike me, the father wasn't amused.

Then I get depressed until I wake up and im still here!

thats weird that you get it too.

I hated that backpacker dream, but unfortunalty now I really am at home, and I can't just wake up and find myself in a beach hut!

But I've started dreaming about my trip now. I always dream about past holidays for years after. I still dream sometimes about places I stayed as a kid 10 years ago. Its nice.

Sleep walking could be pretty bad when travelling. Especially with dorms etc. I travelled for a while with a lovely guy who used to shout in the early hours of the morning. He once screamed "f**ck off" at the loudest possible volume at about 5am in a room with cardboard walls. Poor thing.

But once in Cairns this german bloke woke me up singing Elvis Presley's "suspicious minds". Weird.

And once I when I was with my ex I woke up and he had taken the pictures down off the wall and placed then neatly in the corner and had no recollection for it!

I always have reoccuring dreams wherever I am, often about snakes which is pretty scary!!!Another aspect in my dreams that keeps popping up is where I lose my teeth, they either fall out, or break or I fall over and knock them out!!!!The dreams you have whilst travelling are sooooooo random, waking up forgetting where you are, or dreaming that you wake up check the time and realised you have missed a flight or bus!!!
When I first got back from travelling I kept waking up in a blind panic not knowing where I was and feeling I was supposed to be someone else!
Another weird thing about dreams is if you dream about something sad and you actually wake up actually still crying!!!!!

i used to have the dreams where you lose teeth.isnt very pleasant is it? was always nice waking up and checking they're still there tho. i did some research into that dream (was bored at work) and apparently it signifies a time of change in your life. guess it stems from losing your baby teeth and growing your adult teeth, i.e. you not so much a kid anymore but a yound adult. but it said it could signify any sort of change in life no matter how small.

not particularly interesting but though you might like to know.

Yeah I checked out the teeth thing also, and it said something about signifying a change as well as being a sign of insercurity?!?Oh my God Id hate it if all my teeth came out!

I go through phases with the teeth falling out, haven't had it in a while. I've heard its feeling you're not in control.

Its so strange that everyone should have the same dream though!

I love dreams.

i don't care what people say but dreaming about your family is a reassuring dream.
teeth usually it is to do with self portraying. it's when you are thinking of the smile . ie your worried about how people will see you or you have tooth acke and your worried about loosing your smile etc. i am usually correct on reading dreams
