Great question!!! This would be my dreamtrail (I hope I have the opportunity to do this once)!!! You could start to buy the LP: "Africa on a shoestring". The problem at this moment for you is Sudan (the country is politically unstabil at the moment). Many borders are closed or dangerous (but I know that the border with Egypt is open and safe enough) . A good trail would be: Egypt-Sudan-Ethiopia-Kenia-Tanzania and further south. Ethiopia is very cheap (8-10 US$ per day)while Tanzania and Kenia are more expensive (15-20 US$ a day). How much time do you have???

well i can help you to tell you about the safari in egypt, well if you will arrive in cairo airport you can go to fayoum which is really close to cairo (half an hour by car)and from fayoum take the oasis road passing through
1-baharia oasis (385km from cairo)
there you can Visit "beer El Ghaba" hot water source (38 degree ), taking a bath in the hot water
2-on the road between baharia and the next oasis"farafra you must visit the "white desert" it's an amazing place don't miss it
you can camp there if you like or you can spend the night in el farafra oasis having multiple water sources,
after el farafra there's the
3-dakhla oasis
4- finaly el kharga oasis
there are many places you can visit in these oasis , there are many monuments there.
anyway if you need more details tell me,

hi, Pip! I will be doing the overland safari from Kenya for 83 days (but there are 54 days options avail) traveling through Tanzania, Malawi, Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, Lesotho, Swaziland, Mozambique and Zimbabwe with Oasis Overland. www.oasisoverland.com
It is cheap, compared with traveling solo...

Hi Pip. I've been looking into travelling the 'Great Rift Valley'. Overland trip from Istanbul to Cape Town. Not the cheapest trip in the world - looking at about £2500 plus optional extras for a 122 day tour with www.phoenixexpeditions.co.uk. It takes in Turkey, Syria, Jordon, Egypt, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia, and South Africa. best of everything.....
