You did write LONG TERM right? I guess it depends on what you consider long term. Do you mean a decent apartment for a year or an ordinary hotel for a month?

I wouldn't negotiate any long term accomodation until after you arrive in Saigon. Stay in a local hotel for a short while and ask for recommendations from some of the expats that live there.

Pretty much the truth. I just e-mailed a friend who lives in Saigon (he's a visiting American who teaches there) for some advice. There are tons of different options depending on what you want to spend and the quality you are looking for. You could get a nice place for anywhere from $300-800 but it depends on where you want to live.

basically expect to pay much more than the locals, and to be shown much nicer places then the locals would usually rent if you use an agent. If you can read/speak vietnamese you might have a different experience.

Thanks to both of you for your suggestions. I guess I need to be more specific and also do a bit more homework, hey?
