Hi There - Can anyone suggest the best way to get from Cusco to La Paz.
Are there buses or trains? Any idea how long it takes and the cost to do it?

Thanks for your help!

Hi wyre83

I did it last year from La Paz to Cusco.

La Paz to Copacabana by bus 4 hours US$ 4,00
Copacabana to Puno by bus 5 hours US$ 5,00
Puno to Cuzco by bus 8 hours US$ 15,00

Thanks JC - that gives me a good idea of travelling time between places.
Do you know the name of the bus company or website so I can check it out?

or you can get a nice scenic train from Puno to Cusco, a bit more expensive and takes about 8hrs, but worth it for the views.

Don't worry about finding a bus line or web site until you're in Cusco. There will be tens of lines leaving at all hours of the day. You won't have any problem finding a bus to La Paz, but as suggested earlier, there are two great stops between, Puno (visit the floating islands and two earth islands over two days by boat - excellent trip) and Copacabana, Inca islands of Sun and Moon).

Thanks everyone! I've heard the floating island are amazing so may have to incorporate that into my itinerary.
I'm thinking I might travel the other way around now (as in do Boliva first so from La Paz through to Cusco and then Lima) but I'm sure it will be just as easy to sort out once I get there.

Seems interesting what you've been discussing...and thanks for the price info!

Will May be a good time to visit these regions?
We are thinking of going by bus from BA(via Iguazas,Paraguay,Bolivia,La Paz, Cuzco etc to Quito) in 45 days or so.
What do you think bus tickets will sum up in?
Cheers!
